PM Deuba meets Samsung CFO Park
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 25 : Samsung Electronics Global President & CFO HK Park on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister of Nepal Shri Sher Bahadur Deuba, during an official visit to the country. Park was accompanied by a delegation of other senior executives of the Company.
During the meeting, Park apprised the PM about the various initiatives Samsung is taking in the country in the areas of electronics manufacturing, retail, and job creation. He also reiterated Samsung's commitment to the welfare of the community, especially the Nepalese youth, through future initiatives.
Samsung, along with its local partner HIM Electronics (Golchha Group), has already announced the setting up of a factory in Nawalparasi to manufacture LED televisions. “Samsung is very confident that the new factory will foster electronics manufacturing in Nepal. It will also further the Government’s objective of boosting local production capabilities and employment generation,” claims a press communique issued by the company.
Samsung has been in Nepal for over two decades. It currently sells smartphones and consumer electronics products such as televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and microwaves in the Nepal market through its partners. It has a strong network of over 2,000 electronics retail stores and customer service centers.
