Birgunj Metropolis unveils budget of over Rs 3.21 billion

BIRGUNG, JUNE 26: The Birgunj Metropolitan City has presented a budget of over Rs 3.21 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24. Mayor of the Metropolis, Rajeshman Singh, introduced the annual estimate of revenue and expenses in the 13th convention of the Metropolis yesterday. Among the allocated budget by the only metropolis in the Madhesh Province,  Rs 2.48 billion was allocated for the current expenses, Rs 680 million for the capital expenses and Rs 36 millionfor financial management, informed Mayor Singh.

According to him, Rs 1.2 billion will be received from the internal income and Rs 1.3 billion from the federal government as a financial transfer while over Rs 44 million is estimated from the provincial government.

Similarly, over Rs 250 million will be managed from the federal government revenue distribution and Rs 27 million from the provincial government's revenue distribution. Of the over Rs 3.4 billion allocated for the ongoing fiscal year, 71 per cent is expected to be spent by the end of the fiscal year.
