Goods brought for Dashain being blocked in Tibet

CHAUTARA, SEPTEMBER 9: Containers loaded with  the goods that are being imported to Nepal for the Dashain festival have been stopped in the Tibet region. The containers carrying clothes, electronic devices, fruits, and other items are not allowed to enter the Nepali terrotory.

With this, specially the applies loaded in some 50 containers are in the stage of decaying, said Chairperson of the Sindhupalchowk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Raj Kumar Basnet. 

The Chinese government, sometimeback, ordered to stop the goods-carrying vehicles entering Lhasa from the China mainland reasoning that there is still a lockdown in Tibet after the spread of coronavirus infection. Chair Basnet shared that more than 200 containers were stopped at Keyrong and around 100 containers at Khasa.

Chief of Tatopani Dry Port Custom Office, Narad Gautam, also mentioned that the import of goods was prohibited. The lockdown imposed on August 8 in different cities of Tibet due to coronavirus infection is still on. A Nepali businessperson Subas Timilsina complained that Nepali businesspersons bringing different goods from the north border of China have been facing problems due to this. RSS
