Pre-booking of bus tickets for Dashain opens
KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 18: Pre-booking of bus tickets for those traveling home from the capital for the upcoming Dasain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals has been opened. They were opened by the Department of Transport Management in collaboration with transport traders, traffic police, and concerned agencies yesterday two weeks before the festivals.
President of the National Confederation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, Vijay Bahadur Swar, said, " During the festive season every year, a significant chunk of the people in the capital visit their home districts. Taking this into account, we have opened pre-booking of tickets for medium and long-distance buses.
The people looking to pre-book their bus tickets can do so from counters located in New Bus Park, Chabahil, Gaushala, Koteshwar, Sundhara, and Kalanki in the capital. The tickets are for destinations like Dhangadhi, Tikapur, Bajhang, Bajura, Salyan, Rukum, Pyuthan, Rolpa in the west and Taplejung, Ilam, Kakadvitta, Udayapur, and other places in the east.
According to the department, effective monitoring of buses leaving and entering the Kathmandu Valley will be conducted in cooperation with the traffic police, consumers’ forum, entrepreneurs, and labourers.
All the large vehicles, except those transporting essential items such as food, are not going to be barred from entering the Kathmandu Valley from Narayangarh from October 1-8 to facilitate the movement of vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and Traffic Management Department, will set up passenger help desks at different 14 locations in the capital targeting the passengers leaving the capital for their homes.
Spokesperson of the office, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said that the passenger help desk will work to ensure that the passengers are not charged higher than the specified fare along with coordination required for the passengers to reach their destinations without any hassles.
