FinMin directs tax employees to buckle down

KATHMANDU, JULY 7: Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has directed the staffers of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to work honestly and diligently to collect revenues.

Speaking at a program held today in the capital, he came up with the very instruction.   “The prime duty of the Finance Ministry is to arrange financial resources needed to run the country.  "Since revenues occupy  the largest portion of such resources, there is a need to mobilise them to the limit,” he states, adding,” This is simply mandatory to ensure smooth distribution of salaries/renumerations (for government employyes) , social security funds and capital expenditures.

The Finance Minister made it a point to claim that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year is zeroed in on the highest possible spending of capital expenditure with an aim to support the national economy. “Efforts are also  underway to widen the tax net  to fulfill the same objective.”
