NBWIA urges traders not to overcharge
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 18: : The Nepal Bottled Water Industries Association (NBWIA) has issued a call to traders, urging them to adhere to the established prices for jar and bottled water. During a press conference held yesterday, the Association addressed complaints regarding traders overcharging customers for these products.
Dhurba Gautam, the Association President, emphasized their commitment to intensifying market monitoring to ensure that jar and bottled water are sold at the designated prices.
Gautam stated, "In the Kathmandu Valley, a 20-liter jar of water is priced between Rs 45 and Rs 47, while a 1-liter bottled water is priced at Rs 16. Outside the Valley, the set price for a 20-liter jar of water is Rs 60, and Rs 20 for a 1-liter bottled water. Selling water above the set price will result in actions being taken."
A market monitoring committee has been formed under the leadership of the Association's Central Senior Vice President Bikram Limbu Chemjong to oversee the market situation. Chemjong reported that over 50 traders and industrialists have already faced action for selling water above the established prices.
