92 percent paddy plantation in nation
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22: The country has so far achieved 92 percent paddy plantation for the current season. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has reported that approximately 1.48 million hectares of land have been cultivated with rice across Nepal.
Tapendra Bahadur Bohara, the Joint Spokesperson for the ministry, revealed that Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province have both reached 99 percent paddy plantation. Meanwhile, Koshi Province has reached 97 percent, Lumbini Province 95 percent, Gandaki Province 94 percent, Bagmati Province 93 percent, and Madhes Province 82 percent.
In comparison to the same period last year, when paddy plantation was at 95 percent, this year's progress has slightly declined to 92 percent. The delayed onset of rainfall this year is attributed to this difference.
It's a matter of concern that Madhes Province, which has fertile land suitable for cultivation, has recorded the lowest paddy plantation percentage this year.
