Lalita Niwas land scam: CIB presents report to District Government Attorney Office

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police has taken a significant step in the ongoing investigation of the Lalita Niwas land procurement scam. It today submitted its comprehensive report on the matter to the District Government Attorney's Office in Kathmandu.

Office Chief Achyutmani Neupane confirmed the receipt of the report from the CIB, signifying an important milestone in the investigation. The focus of the investigation revolves around the alleged fraudulent acquisition of land in the Baluwatar area known as Lalita Niwas by various individuals.

In pursuit of the truth, the CIB conducted interviews on Sunday night with former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, both of whom were implicated in the alleged scam. Furthermore, on Monday, the CIB gathered statements from other accused such as former Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, former minister Chandra Dev Joshi, and former minister of state, Sanjay Shah.

The case has come under the purview of the Special Court, where it is being carefully evaluated. The allegations involve the suspected forgery of official government documents and the unauthorized utilization of signatures in the process of transferring public land into the names of various individuals.
