132-kV transmission line to complete within deadline
JAJARKOT, AUGUST 23: The Kohalpur-Surkhet 132-kV transmission project is expected to be completed within the deadline that with come to an end after eight months.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Karnali has reported that though initially there were some challenges related to land acquisition, they have largely been resolved now.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, has stated that the distribution of compensation for the acquired land has been progressing according to the agreed terms. This indicates that the land acquisition process, which initially posed some difficulties, is now moving forward smoothly.
The project, spanning three years, aims to address electricity supply challenges in Surkhet and other districts within the Karnali province, including Jajarkot, Dailekh, Jumla, Kalikot, and Dolpa.
The contract for the Rs 700 million project was signed in the year 2077 BS with the Indian company RS Infraprojects Pvt Ltd. As of the latest update, the project has achieved approximately 70 percent completion, according to the project office.
In total, 26 transmission towers will be installed between Kohalpur and Surkhet as part of this project, which will play a crucial role in enhancing electricity transmission and distribution in the region.
