Heavy rainfall expected; people urged to remain alert

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 23: The monsoon trough's current position has shifted further north than its usual average position. As a consequence, Nepal, along with central Madhya Pradesh and neighboring areas in India, is presently experiencing the impact of a low-pressure system, as reported by the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

According to the Division, the weather across the country is generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is anticipated in certain locations of Sudur Pashchim Province and hilly regions throughout the country, along with a few places in other regions. Additionally, heavy rain with thunder and lightning is predicted in one or two spots within Sudur Pashchim.

Similarly, tonight's weather is projected to be mostly cloudy throughout the nation. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in some parts of Koshi, Madesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini. This atmospheric condition is also anticipated in a few areas of other provinces. Meteorologist Sanjib Adhikari also notes the possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini.

The Division has urged everyone to stay vigilant due to the potential repercussions of heavy rain accompanied by lightning, expected in certain regions of the country within the next 24 hours.
