Flights affected due to unfavourable weather
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 23: The continuous rainfall has led to a general disruption of domestic flights, as reported by the Tribhuvan International Airport Office. The primary reason for the flight disruptions is the low visibility caused by the prevailing weather conditions.
Pratap Babu Tiwari, the General Manager of TIA, stated that domestic flights have been temporarily suspended due to unfavorable weather conditions. However, he mentioned that international flights have been operating as usual.
Various airline companies have informed that several domestic flights to different destinations have been canceled today. Buddha Air's Information Officer, Dipendra Kumar Karna, mentioned that two flights to Surkhet and one to Tumlingtar have been canceled. Additionally, all flights from Pokhara to Bharatpur and the Pokhara-Nepalgunj route have been canceled. Although the Kathmandu-Pokhara flight experienced some disruptions, it was eventually resumed in the afternoon.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted rainfall for the next three days. Currently, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in most parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.
