Foreign trade down by 2.50 percent
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 24: In the first Nepali month of Shrawan (July 17 to August 17) of the current fiscal year, the volume of the country's total foreign trade has shrunk.
The imports went down by 1.56%, to Rs 129 billion and the exports by 8.65 % to Rs 13.52 billion in the said month compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year. Thus, the foreign trade as a whole plummeted by 2.28 percent to Rs 146 billion in Srawan this year.
Such a decline is attributed to a recession in the economic/business activities and the reduction in domestic demand.
