Minister Bhusal inaugurates 132/33 KV substation in Sarlahi, urges for increasing power consumption

KATHMANDU, MARCH 16 : With a joint invesment of the government and Nepal Electricity Authority,  a132/33 KV substation has been constructed at Nawalpur, Lalbandi Municipality-1 in Sarlahi,

The substation, which aims to supply reliable and smooth electricity in the district, was inaugurared by Pamfa Bhusal, Minister of Energy, Water Resorces and Irrigation.    While speaking during the inauguration program, she urged for increasing the power consumption amount by not only through cooking but also via other methods like irrigation and  industrial operations.

 

According to her, the government has reduced the electricity charge for irrigation realizing the immense prospects of the same in particularly the Terai region.  "Every year, our country imports food grains amounting to a staggering Rs 200 billion. So, there is a glaring need to irrigate  the cultivating lands trough electricity to enhance agricultural productions."

Speaking during the same program, Kulman Ghishing, Executive Director, NEA, said that his institution is investing the highest amount of money to reform the elecricity supply in the southern plains. "We are offering a great discount in the electricty charges by deducing our profit margins to promote irrigation, industrial operations, etc..

 

Similary, Man Bhadur Khadka, said that the newly built substation will go a long way in resolving the problem of low voltage and tripping in the district.
