MDMS to be implemented from Sep 15
Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) and Mobile Phone Importers' Association (MPIA) jointly held ‘MDMS BYLAWS 2075 Workshop’at Hotel Soaltee in Kathmandu recently.
Speaking during the program, President of MPIA, Deepak Kumar Malhotra, informed that the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) will be implemented starting from September 14 to control the unauthorized entry of phones in Nepal illegally. "Due to the prevalence of grey market, the government is losing billions of rupees every year in revenue. In this context, the implementation of the MDMS will help in resolvr this problem. as the handsets imported unofficially without paying the government tax will not be activated from September 15."
MDMS is a software application that helps device fleet operators to manage and enforce rules or policies on different types of devices. It can be used for the management and operation of mobile devices such as PCs, tablet PCs, cell phones, POS systems, and other devices.
Vice President of MPIA, Sanjay Agrawal, said that the handsets imported unofficially without paying the government tax thereafter will not be activated from September 15. According to him, MDMS will be fully implemented within two to three months.
Similarly, Director of NTA, Surendra Lal Hada, clarified the importance, features, and technical aspects of MDMS and gave important information about its practical implementation.
Another Director of NTA, Revati Ram Panta analyzed the MDMS Bylaws 2075 and explained its importance and clarifying its
potential.
Chief Guest of the program, Baikuntha Aryal said that the MDMS should be implemented effectively and efficiently.
At the end of program Chairperson of NTA, Purshotam Khanal, expressed his gratitude to all the delegates and said that the MDMS (Mobile Device Management system) should be enfored effectively and efficiently.
Speaking at the same workshop, various other delegates from NTC, NCELL, Smart cell, MPIA, NMDA/ FNDBA expressed their opinions and the importance of implementing MDMS in Nepal.
