Remittance inflow increases by 5 percent
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 17: The inflow of remittances into the country in the last fiscal year went up by 4.8 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. According to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank, the total amount of money sent by migrant Nepali workers last year stood at Rs 107.31 billion. In terms of dollars too, the remittance inflow saw an increment of 2.2 percent.
The said growth in remittance is attributed to an exponential uptick in the number of those obtaining labor permits. As per the central bank, the very number grew by 198.5 to reach 285 thousand last fiscal year. In the previous year, 354 thousand people had obtained labor permits.
