Govt holds more than 42,000 tons of fertilizers in stock
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 4 : The government has said that it has a total stock of 42,983 metric tons of fertilizers. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, of this total quantity, Agriculture Inputs Corporation (AIC) holds 35,449 tones, and Salt Trading the remaining 7,534 tones.
So far this fiscal year, 86,246 tones of fertilizers have been sold, the ministry says, adding,” 30,000 tons of urea will also be imported into the country by December 22.” During this time period, 1,10,000 tonnes of fertilizers have been imported through the issuance of tenders. As the total volume of fertilizers to be acquired from such issuance is 2,57,000, the remaining volume of 147,000 tons is expected to arrive in the country by March 14 next year.
