International tourist arrivals cross half a million

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 5: In the last eleven months of 2022, more than half a million foreign tourists visited Nepal. According to the Department of Migration, a total of 542,975 such tourists from different countries arrived in the country from January to November this year.

Out of them, 16,975 visited in January, 19,766 in  February, 42,006  in March, and 58,348  in April. Similarly,  53,608 international travellers arrived in May,  46,957 in June, 44,462 in July, and  41,394 in August

Likewise,  58,314 tourists were recorded in September, 88,582 in October, and 72,653 in November.

The said number of tourist arrivals during the review period indicates at a gradual recovery of the Nepali tourist industry hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Because of the negative impacts of the pandemic, the number of international travelers coming to the country had been relatively much less in the last two years.  The very number stood at  230,085 in 2020  and 150,962 in 2021.
