Power generation in Mid- Marsyangdi goes down
LAMJUNG, DECEMBER 18: The Mid-Marsyangdi Hydropower's energy production has declined with the receding water levels in the Marsyangdi River. Though the project has a total capacity of generating 70 MW of electricity a day, it is currently producing just 48 MW of electricity a day.
Chief of the project, Pavan Basnet, informed, "Till a month back, the river had enough amount of water flowing through. But now it is witnessing a decline in the water levels, thereby reducing energy production. The power generation may decline to as low as 26 MW a day in the coming two months. . There are two turbines in the hydropower project each with the capacity to run 35 MW of electricity.
Its construction began in 2000 and was completed in 2008. It was built at the cost of Rs 27.20 billion.
