DPR of Raxaul-Kathmandu railway being prepared
BIRGUNJ, MARCH 28: The detailed project report (DPR) of the 136 km long Raxaul-Kathmandu railway is being prepared by Indian Railway Company Corporation. General Manager of the Company, Niranjan Kumar Jha, today said, "It will be completed within a month."
Nepal sent an official proposal to India to prepare the DPR after signing a memorandum of understanding for the preliminary feasibility study of the railway on September 1, 2019. As per the preliminary study, the railway line will start from Raxaul and pass through Jitpur, Nijgadh, Sikharpur, Sisneri and Sathikhel before connecting Chobhar of Kathmandu and there will be 41 bridges and 40 curves.
The total cost of this cross-border project is estimated at US $ 3 billion.
