'Shramatan: A Nepalese Migrant Worker's Memoir' launched

KATHMANDU, MARCH 4: The memoir "Shramatan: A Nepalese Migrant Worker's Memoir" has been launched. "Shramatan: A Nepalese Migrant Worker's Memoir" is a powerful and moving account of the experiences of a Nepali migrant worker who travels abroad for employment. The book provides insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Nepali migrant workers in foreign countries. Speaking at the launch event, Bishwa Prakash Sharma praised the author for his insightful and eye-opening work. Yuyutsu Sharma also lauded the book for its relevance in the context of Nepal's growing migrant workforce. Other speakers such as poets Shyamal, Saru Joshi Shrestha and Arun Budhathoki highlighted the salient features of the book.

The translator of the book, Arun Budhathoki, shared, "Translation is not an easy task.  So, when I got the opportunity to translate this book during the pandemic, it was a huge responsibility for me. I believe this book resonates with millions of Nepalese people working abroad and it will become a window for foreigners to know Nepal's current economic, societal, and political situation."

The book was launched yesterday at the Padma Kanya Multiple Campus in the federal capital. The event was organized by White Lotus Book Shop, Kupondole, Lalitpur in collaboration with Nirala Publications, New Delhi. The book is published by Nirala Publications and is authored by B.N. Joshi. "Shramatan: A Nepalese Migrant Worker's Memoir" is available for purchase at the White Lotus Book Shop and other leading bookstores across Nepal, as well as on popular e-commerce platforms such as Daraz, Flipkart, and Amazon.
