Dhakal now new president of FNCCI

KATHMANDU, APRIL 14 : The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry  (FNCCI) has seen the election of Chandra Prasad Dhakal as its president.

Dhakal, who was the senior vice-president, was automatically elevated to this topmost position as per the statute of the apex obody of the Nepali business fraternities. The outgoing president of FNCCI Sekhar Golchha handed over the presidency to him amid a ceremony held yesterday in the capital. 
 

 Dhakal is the founder chairman of the IME Group- a leading business conglomerate that is involved in remittance, banking, information technology, energy, tourism, automobile, insurance and entertainment, among others.

Similarly, Anjan Shakya, has been elected as the new senior vice-president of FNCCI in the poll held on Wednesday (April 12).  To grab this position, Shakya along with two candidates- Umeshlal Shrestha and Ramchandra Shanghai- contested in the first round of the election.  In this round, Shakya, Shrestha and Shanghai got 37.99 percent, 31.51 percent, and 30.46 percent, respectively.  of the total votes. With this,  Shanghai moved out of the competition, and in the next round of the election, Shrestha withdrew from the context.  This way, Shakya grabbed the second most powerful position for a three-year term after the completion of which he will automatically become the chieftain of the FNCCI. 

 The newly-elected Senior Vice-president Shrestha holds the position of the executive director of Laxmi Group.   Its portfolio included a wide array of businesses related to dairy,  packaging, automobile trading, infrastructure, and agriculture, among others. 

According to the FNCCI, Hem Raj Dhakal has been elected vice-president (commodity), Sur Krishna Vaidya vice-president (industry) and Jyotsana Shrestha vice-president (associate).
