Import of EVs up by 66 percent
KATHMANDU, APRIL 25: During the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the import of electric vehicles (EVs) has increased by 66 percent to 2,451 units. Of this total figure, 1755 units-the highest number- are brought from India alone. It is followed by China (429 units), South Korea (260 units), the UK (4 units) and Indonesia (3 units).
According to the Department of Customs, the total cost of importing EVs during the review period this year is around Rs 7 billion. Out of the total amount, Rs 4.71 billion was spent to import EVs from the southern neighbour alone.
