'Procurement Clinic' to be operated

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 7: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) is set to establish a 'Procurement Clinic' to address challenges related to public procurement. This initiative aims to enhance the capacity of the personnel engaged in procurement activities, as public procurement is a multifaceted and intricate subject.

Dr. Damodar Regmi, the Secretary at the Office, informed the National News Agency (RSS) that the 'procurement clinic interactive programme' is being introduced. This program will allow participants to share the difficulties they encounter in public procurement, and experts will offer solutions to address these challenges.

Secretary Regmi stated, "The procurement clinic will soon be launched for employees at the local and provincial levels. This successful international practice can effectively enhance the capabilities of those engaged in procurement."

Additionally, the Office intends to create a comprehensive guideline for public procurement to simplify the complexities associated with the procurement process. The legal framework of public procurement is intricate, and the creation of a user-friendly guideline is in progress. This guideline will facilitate the resolution of procurement-related issues faced not only by federal offices but also by provincial and local level offices.

Secretary Regmi emphasized that comprehensive training in e-procurement will also be conducted to enhance the public procurement capacities of local and provincial  governments. This initiative aims to promote efficiency and effectiveness in procurement processes within these government entities.
