Nepal-Malaysia Joint Working Committee meeting within June

KATHMANDU, MAY 3 : The government has termed the five-day visit by the Nepali delegation led by Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha to Malaysia as fruitful.  According to the Ministry. during the visit held at the invitation of Malaysia's Minister for Human Resources Datuk Seri M Saravanan, the Nepali delegation held bilateral meetings with Malaysian Minister for Home Affairs Hamzah Zainudin and Minister Saravanan and proposed to increase the minimum remuneration, service and facilities of Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia.

 

Such meetings also agreed to hold a Nepal-Malaysia Joint Working Committee meeting within June this year. Similarly, discussions were held on a wide range of issues relating to the labour pact between Nepal and Malaysia inked in 2018 such as providing more employment opportunities, making Nepali youths more skill-oriented to cater to the need of Malaysian labour market, making arrangements for security guard related training in Nepal, making zero-cost principle effective for selection and induction of youths for foreign employmentm among others.

 

Furthermore, arrangement of health, social security and social welfare, 24-hour insurance facility for Nepali migrant workers among others also surfaced during the meetings, the Ministry added. The Nepali delegation had urged the Malaysian side to consider raising the monthly salary of the Nepali security guards in Malaysia to 3,000 Malaysian ringgit. ---
