Auditing should be made disciplined, professional, Finance Minister says

KATHMANDU, APRIL 5 : Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma has argued that disciplined and professional auditing was required for strengthening of the country’s economy. Addressing the first national auditors’ conference organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) here yesterday, Minister Sharma said the auditors should not be reluctant in assuming their responsibility of making fair access to the entire property.

 

He urged the auditors to pay attention towards their profession adding that slight gaps in calculation will also severely impact the national economy adding that auditing as a profession is a mirror to show the entire country’s economy. “High integrity, fairness and sense of responsibility is required in auditing process,” the finance minister added.

 

He was of the opinion that the auditors’ role was crucial to maintain fiscal discipline. The finance minister said the audit of the country’s economy was needed to reduce poverty. “Why there is multidimensional poverty in the country? Its audit should be carried out. We can progress if proper auditing of poverty was conducted,” Sharma argued. the time has come to confirm the national property through an audit of assets including the land of the Tarai and natural resources across the country including water from the river, according to Minister Sharma.
