New budget positive in making foot wear sector self-reliant: FMAN
KATHMANDU, JUNE 2: The Footwear Manufacturers' Association of Nepal (FMAN) has welcomed the government policy to make the country self-sufficient in the footwear sector announced through the new budget for the fiscal year 2022/23. Issuing a press release, Chairperson of the FMAN, Naniraj Ghimire, hailed the policy to discourage the imports of footwear products from foreign companies and encourage the production and promotion of such products domestically.
"The campaigns, such as 'Made in Nepal Make in Nepal', in collaboration with the private sector for export promotion has been well-reflected in the budget", he said, adding the campaigns along with policy measures to make the footwear sector self-reliant have added motivation to the entrepreneurs of this sector.
Among others, subsidy to the export of domestic footwear production, special concession on the bank loan for footwear enterprises, and budget appropriation for basic training for advancing employment opportunities are positively reflected in the annual budget, the press release stated.
