Average monthly inflow of remmitance over 99 billion : NRB
KATHMANDU, APRIL 12: Nepal received a remittance worth Rs 104 billion in the last Nepali month of Falgun (February 13 to March 14) . This was revealed by the ‘Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report of Nepal’ unveiled by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
According to the report, the monthly inflow of remittance stood at Rs 99.25 billion on average in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. During the review period, the money sent by Nepali migrant workers totaled Rs 794.32 billion, up by 25.3 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. This was due to an uptick in the number of Nepali youths going for foreign employment.
During the review period this year, 3,59,161 such youths obtained final lbour permits (institutional and personal-new). This is 54.3 percent more compared to the same period last year. Similarly, the number of migrant workers again containing labour permits increased by 8 percent to 1,92,559.
