KATHMANDU, March 28 : Forum for Protection of Consumer Rights- Nepal (FPCR-N) and Nepal Pharmacy Association have jointlt asked the National Vigilance Center and the Office of Ministerial Council not to proceed with the production of Cetamol 650 mg tablets. The two organisations said that the government decision to produce new Cetamol 650 mg by replacing the existing 500 mg Cetamol shoud be annuled.
"In order to fullfill the furtive interests of some pharmaceutical producers, the Department of Drug Administration is making inappropriate desicions continuously. As such, there is a glaring need to investigate such tendecy of the Department," read a joint press communique issued by the Forum and the Association.
"The decision to produce 650 mg Cetamol is foxily meant to hike the price of this medicine," the relese claims adding," It should be well understood that there has no any clinical trial on it in even the developed countries. And, more more alarmingly, the consumption of bigger dose of Cetalol proves particularly lethal to liver."
