NOC preparing to also bring petrol via pipeline
KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 9 : The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has started the process of constructing two petrol storage tanks at its provincial office based in Amlekhgunj in the Bara district. The very process got started as part of the NOC’s plan to also import petrol from India via the pipeline. Currently, only diesel is brought from this 69 km-long pipeline laid from the Indian state of Bihar to Amlekhgunj in Nepal.
“We have already signed a contract agreement with the Indian Oil Corporate (IOC) to construct the two tanks with each having a capacity of kilo4,100-kiloliter. The IOC is expected to begin their construction soon after the completion of the upcoming Dashain festival,” says Pradip Yadav, Chief Engineer of the Provincial Office.
According to him, the construction task of the petrol storage tanks, the total cost of which is estimated at Rs 3.26 billion, will complete by January 2024.
