e-SIM soon to be introduced
KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 11: Nepal Telecom (NT) is preparing to shortly introduce e-SIM cards in the Nepali market. “ As there is a growing demand for this product, we have a plan to launch it within a few days,” a source at the NT reportedly said. “e-SIM cards have already been experimented with by some of our officials in their respective devices. Since the results are found to be positive, we are distributing these cards to our customers also.”
Customers looking to purchase e-SIM cards are required to apply for the same in only the counters of the NT. Then they will be gradually facilitated to activate thee cars through other mediums. Those interested in this kind of product can either buy the new one or convert their existing physical SIM card into an embedded SIM. There will no extra charge for this purpose.
Like in India, the NT also plans to offer the facility of sending the EID (Embedded Identity Document) and IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers to convert the physical SIM card into a virtual one herein the country.
