Govt increases base price of raw milk
KATHMANDU, MARCH 5: The government has decided to increase the base price of raw milk by Rs 9 per liter. With this decision made last Friday (February 3), the related farmers will now receive Rs 56 per liter for selling the very product. According to government officials, it is aimed at enabling them to augment their income.
However, rights activists believe that the latest move is going to hit the general consumers hard with the imminent increment in the cost of processed milk and other dairy products sold in the market.
According to them, it is foolhardy on the part of the concerned authorities to increase the price of raw milk instead of working to reduce its production cost.
