90 per cent occupancy in Pokhara hotels
POKHARA, APRIL 16: With the beginning of the Nepali New Year 2080, hotels in Pokhara are almost totally filled with tourists. Their average occupancy rate is more than 90 percent which has encouraged hoteliers here, said the President of the Pokhara Chapter of the Hotel Association of Neal (HAN), Laxman Subedi. "The hotel business was first hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and then the Yeti Airlines plane crash on the last January 15. In this light, the latest development has come as a big relief to us."
Proprietor of Hotel Asia, Dharma Raj Panthi, mentioned that it was difficult to get rooms in hotels in the Lakeside area, especially on April 13 and 14 due to the very large inflow of guests. Tourism entrepreneurs opined a major reason behind the increasing number of domestic tourists in Pokhara particularly at the beginning of the Nepali new year is Fewa New Year Festival organised annually targeting the very occasion.
Around 1,200 big and small hotels are said to be in operation in Pokhara and its surroundings
