KATHMANDU, APRIL 20: During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, the number of Nepali youths going for foreign employment exceeded the six-lakh mark.
From mid-July 2022 to mid-April 2023, such youths totaling 6,057,89 applied for new labour permits and renewal of old permits, according to the Department of Foreign Employment.
During mid-March alone, migrant workers numbering 61,478 went abroad with approval for labor. From mid-July to mid-March, the number of them stood at 544,320.
The outflow of Nepali youths to foreign labour destinations, which was affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, seems to be again increasing.
