"We will stop medicine imports if our demands are not met"
KATHMANDU, APRIL 4 : Nepal Chemists and Druggists Association (NCDA) has warned of stopping the import of medicines from April 14 if the government continues to ignore its demands.A meeting of NCDA held on Saturday in the capital came up such a warning. Mrigendra Mehar Shrestha, president of the association, said, " We have been demanding for adjustment according to the MRP price of the exporting country."
"Irrespective of the MRP of medicines allocated by the country of origin, renewal of recommendation letters based on the same MRP in Nepal as well while importing is mandatory.“Though the price of 96 drugs is set by the government, we must be permitted to sell the other medicines according to the price in the country of origin.”
Earlier, the association had submitted a memorandum with a 30-day ultimatum to Director General of the Department of Drug Administration Bharat Bhattarai on March 11 to address its demands.
