Consumer inflation stands at 7.14 percent :NRB

KATHMANDU, APRIL 14 : The consumer price inflation stood at 7.14 percent in the eighth month of the current fiscal year as compared to 3.03 percent of the same period last year.

 

According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report published recently by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the inflation rates of food and beverage and service stood 7.51 percent and 6.84 percent respectively.

 

In the review period, the prices of ghee and oil, vegetable, milk products and eggs, and pulses and legumes surged by 26.34 percent, 13.96 percent, 11.30 and 10.30 percent respectively.  Similarly, the inflation rates of transportation, miscellaneous goods and services and education sub-categories rose by 16.27 percent, 9.01 percent and 8.79 percent respectively

 

Inflation in the hilly region was  the highest at 7.69 percent followed by the mountain region (7.56 percent), Terai region (7.36 percent) and Kathmandu Valley (6.31 percent).
