Load--shedding taking heavy tool on industrial sector: FNCCI
KATHMANDU, MAY 2 : The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has bemoaned the imposition of power outage of 12-16 hours every day in the country’s industrial sector is taking a heavy toll on the very sector. Issuing a press release recently, it urged the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to resolve this anomaly without further ado.
“Not only the major industrial corridors but hundreds of industrial units also have been hampered in recent days by the prolonged load-shedding imposed sans any notice. Moreover, it is creating additional hurdles like low voltage and tripping that are inhibiting the industries from operating as per the regular schedule,” the apex organisation of the Nepali business fraternities laments adding,” As such, this could seriously dampen the productivity, thus leading to the economic crisis of huge proportions.
The federation said that the NEA and the government must fulfil their oft-repeated commitments to prevent power shortage in the industrial sector by purchasing the required electricity at any cost.
