Internet Service could be disrupted,  ISPAN  warns

KATHMANDU, MAY 2 : Internet service provider companies have issued a warning that the internet service in the country could be disrupted this week as they are being denied the adequate foreign currencies required to pay for the bandwidth.

 

According to the Internet Service Providers’ Association of Nepal (ISPAN), they have been facing hassles in acqiuiring foreign currencies for the last six months. because of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology ceasing the issuance of the required recommendations.

 

Citing the arrears of the internet service providing companies, the ministry is said to have stopped issuing recommendations to release the foreign currencies necessary to pay to the foreign companies

These companies purchase bandwidth from upstream internet service providers like Tata Communications, SiFi and Airtel, among others.
